Review on My Favorite Mac Products

My interest for makeup grew when I received my first MAC makeup set for my 21st birthday. I’m completing 24 this year and I cross my heart and swear by their products. Of course I use other brands too but these are my favorites and I don’t see a time in the near future where I won’t be using the following.

Face Primer – MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance Base Lumiere – Radiant Yellow: Silky gel, which contains Vitamins E and C,  hydrates and primes your face for application of foundation – cream or water based. It can be used for combination skin types. It comes in two colors – Radiant Yellow, which works on deeper skin tones, and Radiant Pink, which is the best for fairer skin tones. It needs to set and be absorbed by the skin. Hence, give it two-three minutes for absorption and glow. This is just a primer that controls oils. You always need to moisturize a cleansed face first!

Correction Pen

Color Corrector – MAC Prep + Prime Highlighting Pen – Peach Lustre: The color corrector pen comes in three shades, pink/peach/yellow shades, to even out under eye darkness and dark spots around the face. It is of a creamy texture and is easy to blend, thus giving a flawless finish. You can apply it before or after the foundation – depends on how you prefer it. Since I have some serious dark circles, I put it on before my foundation. The foundation helps lessen the orange tinge to it. If you do not have too many spots to cover, apply the corrector after your foundation. Saves you an enormous amount of concealer and gives you a fresh look!

Pro Longwear

Foundation – MAC NC42 Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof and MAC NC37 Studio Fix Fluid: Although I don’t need full-coverage foundations, I always prefer them over medium-coverage foundations. It’s just the way I like it, especially when I know I’d be in front of the camera!

Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof blends like a Goddess! It is oil free and like the name says it, it’s waterproof! Doesn’t cake, stays on for 24 hrs, weightless and gives a satin finish. Yes, like every other girl, I too have passed out with my makeup on and have woken up like a Goddess, haha! Absolutely, love LOVE the Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof foundation (my usual)!

I picked up the MAC NC37 Studio Fix Fluid foundation at the Dubai Airport. They didn’t have my usual. T’was an opportunity to try out something new. I’d say it wasn’t a bad choice but definitely wasn’t THE best choice. It gives a matte finish. It made my face look pretty dry (I’m a combination skin but slightly towards the dry side). Sometimes cakey. I loved the coverage and it blended quite well but not as well as my usual. I added some face oil to the product everytime I used it and VOILA, it was my next best foundation! I’ve used it to the extent where I’ve put in a very thin brush to scoop out the leftovers from the bottle LOL! I’ve run out of both of these foundations and can’t wait to get them soon.

Bronzing Powder

Bronzer – Refined Golden Bronzing Powder: The bronzing powder gives a natural finish, sun kissed look. MAC offers it in Bronze, Golden, Matte Bronze and Refined Golden shades. I use the Refined Golden shade. I’ll be getting a new one soon as I’m finally running out of it – ABSOLUTELY love it. For a wheatish skin tone, the shade is dark. Make sure to tap off the excess on the brush and lightly apply it on the hollows of your cheekbones. The Refined Golden is not your ideal pick if you’re looking for a matte bronzer.

You can buy it here:

Highlighter – Global Glow Mineralize Skinfinish: A highlighter is the most essential part of my makeup routine. I can do without bronzers and colour correctors but not without a highlight. It accentuates the high points of my face. One of my go-tos is Global Glow. It comes in 8 shades, including Cheeky Bronze, Global Glow, Gold Deposit, Lightscaped, Nuance, Perfectly Lit, Soft and Gentle, and Warm Rose. Global Glow is more of a neutral tan with a silver sheen. Again, just a little goes a long way – I’ve still not run out of Global Glow (bought it in 2015).

Eye Primer

Eye primer – Groundwork Pro Longwear Paint Pot: I have oily eyelids!!!! Yes, all my liners would leave its mark on my crease. And my eye shadow would be all over the place. I got the shade Groundwork as it’s the closest to my skin tone. The paint pot is in itself an eye shadow. I use it both as an eye shadow or primer. It’s a mid-tone neutral taupe. Blends very easily and yes, it does hold my eye shadow and controls oils. The paint pots come is 23 shades and now, i’m eyeing the Frozen Violet as a base for my Purple Times Nine eye shadow palette!!

Hydrating mist

Hydrating mist – Mineralize Charged Water: I have slightly dry skin and my makeup starts to look all flaky by end of my work day if I miss the first and last step. The Mineralize Charged Water helps me keep my skin hydrated and simultaneously energizes it.

Don’t skip the step – makes a quite difference, you’ll see!
