A review of The Body Shop Hair Care – Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, Rainforest Radiance Conditioner & Grapeseed Oil Serum
Back in the days, I had unmanageable curly thick hair, which eventually went on to look something like a bob cut. Juggling between school, tuition and extracurriculars, my personal outlook took a back seat – or maybe I just didn’t know how to take care of it. Never had I seen my mother use anything on her hair because she didn’t need it! As I grew up, obviously I started styling my hair (to woo the guys and peer pressure) without proper care that led to excessive hair fall. Right through undergrad, I have never walked a day out of the door without it being straightened. If I did, it was always in a hoodie. To me, my hair is as chipped nails or un-done eyebrows is to other girls!
Three years ago, I decided that I really can’t be bothered to wake up early in the morning, wash my hair and take the effort of styling it. I gradually adorned my curls although I never stopped using heat – I did straighten out my bangs to shape my face. Towards the fag end of 2016, I decided that this was it and started taking care of my hair (minus the coloring). It’s 2018 and I still have very thin, coloured, dry and frizzy hair but it’s in a much better shape after using a range of products.
However, a month ago, my head was itchy and slightly flaky because of the weather change. As an ardent shopaholic, I was randomly browsing through products at The Body Shop and came across the Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. With all possible haste, I read online reviews and seemed like my perfect solution. I also got the Rainforest Radiance Conditioner for coloured hair and the Grapeseed Oil Serum. It has only been a month and OH MY GOD, I can’t stop running my fingers through my hair. Just a little of the Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo goes a long way, lathers easily and washes easily – mind you, there’s a pretty strong Ginger scent to it (I’m not too fond of Ginger) but the Rainforest Radiance Conditioner neutralizes the scent and leaves the hair smelling fresh and voluminous. Unlike all my previous conditioners, you cannot feel the hair smoothen down and de-tangle when you rinse off the conditioner. It gets softer and fluffier as it dries. For detangling, I always use the serum. A good two to three generous pumps of the Grapeseed Oil Serum is the final touch. My hair feels less frizzy and indubitably tangle free. I have always worked towards keeping my hair sweet-smelling. As I write this, there’s a huge smile on my face! Why? – Cause my boyfriend uttered the most endearing words while I bid him adieu for the next 9 hours – “You smell like a fresh bouquet” Need I say more? 😉
