We have seen that how Bollywood directors and producers have acted skeptical about the release of two or more big movies on same dates. Well, the film industry has pretty much obvious reasons for this though. A same-day-release is believed to make the box-office success a rather risky affair for the movies. We have seen even instances where superstars of Bollywood have postponed their most-awaited movies for days or weeks when it clashed with the release date of other big-banner movies, to secure the first-day box office record. However, for the audience, of course, same day release has always been a great thing as they can simply choose from some good movie options.
So here I am with my Clash of Movies (don’t forget to have a look at my movie reviews) to make the Friday-movie-lovers aware of this Friday’s major movie vs movie.
Release date: 14th September 2018
Directed by Tarbez Noorani, Love Sonia is an Indian drama film. This movie is produced by the America film-producer David Womark who have previously produced movies like Ang Lee’s Life of Pi. Love Sonia first premiered on June 21, 2018, at the London Indian Film Festival.
As hinted by the trailer, Love Sonia sincerely tells the story of Sonia, a young girl from a village in India, who gets trapped in the vicious network of the sex trade. The brave and heartfelt story of Love Sonia shows how her life changes during her journey from a village girl to being forced into prostitution reflecting the fate of million Indian girls who become the victim of the sex trade.
Love Sonia has a fantastic cast of talented actors and actresses. While Mrunal Thakur will be making her first Bollywood debut in the role of the title character, Sonia, the versatile Rajkummar Rao, the talented Manoj Bajpayee and the Hollywood fame Demi Moore will be there playing significant roles in the movie. Even the Masaan famed actress Richa Chadda and the Slumdog Millionaire fame Freida Pinto are there to offer some jaw-dropping acting skills in the movie.
With the trailer evoking curiosity and a close peek at the global sex-trade network, the audience has high expectation from Love Sonia. With Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkummar Rao in the cast, actors who are known for their amazing acting skills and unique character-portrayals, Love Sonia has already created quite a buzz. However, since Bollywood lacks impressive box office records on realistic dramas, the box-office fate of Love Sonia can’t be predicted. But then again, huge box office success or becoming a blockbuster is not all; otherwise, we would not have movies like Shahid, Maqbool, city lights in our must-watch movie list.
Why watch it
While Mrunal Thakur is a newcomer and yet to pass her acting test on the big screen, but the complex plot hinted by the trailer definitely makes the movie to go for. The cast is also another big reason to go for the movie as it promises to deliver something worth remembering. Plus, those who want to witness a well-crafted story that tells the disturbingly haunting tale of the sex trade and other harsh realities of life, Love Sonia can be your destination this Friday.

The expectations from an Anurag Kashyap movie is always high and this doesn’t change for Manmarziyaan as well. Reflecting the complexities of the modern days’ love stories, this movie has already created quite an excitement among the audience, at least the number of views of it Youtube trailer says so. While the fans of Junior Bachchan are eagerly waiting for his new avatar on the big screen, the present day heartthrob of many, Vicky Kaushal will certainly be the attraction of Manmarziyaan. And after movies like Pink, Mulk, and Baby, Taapsee Pannu not only has established herself as a strong female actor in Bollywood but have quite a fan following to give her movie a big opening.
Why watch it
Though the trailer may seem to share similarities with romantic blockbusters like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, where the lovers were separated and the heroine is married with another sober and well-behaved type of professionally successful man, Manmarziyaan sure has its own charm and twists. Watching the new pair, both Vicky and Rumi and Robbie and Rumi are the highlights of the movie. For any romantic movie fans and modern-day love portrayal admirer, Manmarziyaan has every reason to book your tickets for tomorrow.
Not only Manmarziyaan and Love Sonia, but there are also a host of other movies that will hit the theatres this Friday, such as Hotel Milan, Mitron, Kathor etc. But these two movies are certainly the talk of the week and which one of the two will be a better success at the box-office is still hard to predict. So, now that you’ve known your best options for this Friday, pick your best choice and save your Friday from getting ruined by doing nothing.
